An afternoon with mom

Since Jared had schoolSchool bus today and I needed a break from the norm, I decided to take the kids for a walk and go to Chevy’s Mexican Restaurant for lunchPlate.

Kyralynn finally gets to wear her jacket :)

As it is cooling off a littleFreezing, we bundled up.  Kyra got to wear her jacket for the first time…I did good planning and it is the right size for now.  However, Rylee had to wear his jacket that is 12-18 months and it barely fit.

We got there and got both kids set up in their high chairs.  It was interesting to tell them, “just me and 2 high chairs, oh and somewhere to put the double stroller”.  I think a few people thought I was crazySmile with tongue out.

Really glad that I don't like salsa because Rylee was double dipping...scooping up salsa, licking it off, and scooping more.

Rylee enjoyed coloring for a moment and then dug into the chips and salsa.  It is a good thing that I don’t like salsa because he double dips…by scooping up salsa, licking it off, and scooping up more salsa with the same chipSick smile.

This is my "steak" fajitas...the receipt even said steak fajitas...but that is white steak..aka chicken.

My favorite meal at Chevy’s is their sizzling steak fajitas…unfortunately my steak came out a little pale and tasted like chicken Disappointed smile.  But it came with lots of beans, which I loveOpen-mouthed smile.

Kyra stole some of Rylee's corn tamalito and ate it and just kept trying to get his plate to get more.

While I was packing up my leftovers…Rylee tried to help pack his up, and Kyra tried to help too…but that resulted in corn tamalito on the table in front of Kyra.  She started eating it and loved it and kept trying to get Rylee’s plate to get more.

The desert I got for them giving me chicken instead of steak...I wouldn't have said anything if they hadn't charged me for the steak...$2.00 more.

When the check came, I was charged Money for the steak fajitas which are $2.00 more than the chicken, so I decided I needed to tell them.  They fixed the check so I was charged for what I actually got and got a dessert paid for by the waitress, who is the one that ordered it wrong.

Rylee eating his ice cream with handmade kone...it has been a while since Rylee has actually eaten ice cream, I thought he didn't like the coldness of it, but he ate this one.

As part of his meal, Rylee got an ice cream Kiddie Kone.  He usually won’t eat ice cream so I have eaten his in the past and they are delicious.  It is really good vanilla ice cream on a cone that is made from a deep fried flour tortilla that is dipped in cinnamon and sugar, soo much better than sugar cones.

On the walk home, both kids fell asleep...note the mess on Rylee's face, he ate his ice cream on the way home.

Since Rylee had most of his cone left and I was ready to go, I loaded the kids up in the stroller and headed home with Rylee eating his cone on the way.  By the time we got to our street, both kids were asleep.  The big trick was trying to get both kids and the stroller upstairs, while trying to keep kids asleep.  It didn’t work.  Kyra woke up right after I took this picture and she cried when I set her down in the living room to get Rylee.  Rylee did stay asleep, but I also left him sticky because Kyra was screaming.  Then Jared got home and brought the stroller up for me.

All in all, it was a good outing.  Nice weather (the sign on the bowling alley said it was 68 degrees when we were walking home), had good dinner conversationSecret telling smile with my mom via text messageMobile phone and pixCamera, had an ok meal & desert, the kids were good (many comments from people on how well behaved they were), and got Rylee to take a nap.  Would have been better if Kyra would have stayed asleep too, since I had things I needed to do during naptime, but oh well.

P.S.  according to my pedometer:  just over 7,000 steps, almost 3 miles (I think it was closer to 2 miles though), burned around 300 calories (but I think there was more than that in just my dessert).

Halloween 2010

Every year our ward has a Trunk or Treat.  For the last 3 years we have been on the Activities Committee and helped plan the event.  Here are some pictures of Kyralynn & Rylee at this year’s festivities.

Kyralynn is being held by Susi Ray.  She is in our ward.  We got to know her at the ward campout in July.  She has since staked a claim on our kids and has become “Grandma Susi”.  It has been a great help to Jared & I as we don’t have any family near by.  We have been able to intrude on her life and her daughter & granddaughter's and they have helped us with babysitting a lot.  I know that they enjoy spending time with Kyra and Rylee which helps me to not worry too much about being an inconvenience in someone else’s routine.  Also our kids do love spending time with them as well, and are usually better behaved for them than they are for us…or so they claim.

At the end of the day….both kids were tired.  Kyra went the sleep as soon as we got her in her car seat and Rylee was out by the time we got to Dairy Queen to get dinner.

Kyralynn 6 months

Kyralynn is now 6 months old.  At her well check she was 16 pounds 7 ounces, 26 1/2 inches tall.  She is sitting up entirely unsupported.  Is starting to be able to scoot, she doesn’t move much and gets frustrated with it.  But if she keeps going she can get where she wants to be…eventually.  Rylee is doing well too, they enjoy playing with each other.  Sometimes Rylee can be a little rough but most of the time Kyra is laughing at everything he does. Life is crazy, but fun.

Trying to crawl It is a lot of work. So tired Just a short rest. What do you want?? Ok, I will smile. I know, I am adorable. Squirrel Hi mommy. I try to crawl again. So happy. This is fun I think it is interesting that the picture that was poorly focused is the same picture that she blinked. That is better Worried?? Oh no
